Accessibility.
A register is used all day, often in a hurry, sometimes by someone who cannot easily read a small grey label. Accessibility is an operational requirement here, not a badge.

What we aim at
- WCAG 2.1 level AA as the target for this site and for the register and operations surfaces.
- Every colour pair in the design system is contrast-checked and recorded in our brand documentation. Body and label pairs on this site exceed 7:1.
- State is never carried by colour alone. Every payment state is a colour, an icon and a word together.
- Keyboard-only operation throughout: a visible focus ring, a skip link, and landmarks in the order a screen reader should meet them.
- The site works with JavaScript disabled. Navigation never hides behind a script, and the pilot form submits without one.
- Motion is limited to short colour transitions and honours a reduced-motion preference.

What we test
- Automated accessibility checks on every page at 320, 390, 768 and 1440 pixels wide, which must report zero violations before a change ships.
- Markup validation and link checking, including in-page fragments.
- No horizontal scrolling at 320 pixels.
- Register prototype screens are designed for tablet landscape and phone portrait with large tap targets.
Known limits
This is a pilot-stage site and we have not yet run structured testing with assistive-technology users, or a formal conformance evaluation. The register surfaces have not been tested on real store hardware. Both are open items, and neither is claimed as done.
